Oyster farm worker - 14-38 hours per week, Monday to Friday for immediate start
Southern Oyster Culture is an oyster producing business located on the South Coast of NSW. The goal of Southern Oyster Culture is to produce premium oysters, both pacific and Sydney rock for wholesale.
About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic worker who ideally wants a career in oyster production. We have some flexibility with working hours and the right person can choose to work between two and five days per week.
You will be required to help with all oyster farm operations primarily at the Batemans Bay site. This will involve work both at the shed and on the river. Initially your main tasks will be culling oysters and assembling oyster cultivation infrastructure.
You will grow oysters from spat to market size and harvest the finished product. You will build and maintain the infrastructure used to grow oysters. If working on the beautiful Clyde River sounds good, then this job could be for you.
In periods of high demand, the successful candidate must be available to work variable hours including reasonable additional hours to meet business requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role you must:
- have worked for at least 2 years in any field
- be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- have a drivers license and own transport
- be an Australian resident for tax purposes and be eligible to work in Australia.
Experience with boat handling and a forklift ticket is desirable, but not essential.
