Position: Chef
Salary: Annual salary between 54000 to 60000 excluding superannuation. At busy restaurant in Bairnsdale, we seek to employ a motivated and reliable full-time chef to plan and organise the preparation and cooking activities while managing our kitchen’s staff, equipment, stock, budget and menus.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing a busy kitchen
2. Setting and updating menus and food pricing after approval from Restaurant Manager
3. Stock control
4. Ensuring adequate operations of kitchen equipment
5. Preparing standard recipes
6. Ensuring quality of all food items (raw or cooked) at all stages of storage, preparation, cooking and presentation
7. Rostering kitchen staff
8. Assist Restaurant Manager in hiring and training staff
9. Ensuring optimum hygiene standards are maintained
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Commercial Cookery/Trade Certificate
2. Available weeknights & weekends
3. Previous experience in a Chef/Cook role
4. Strong communication & people skills
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
6. Possess a can-do attitude & able to work within a team
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma with at least 2 years of verifiable work experience. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications. On-the-job mandatory training will be provided to people with less than 3 years’ work experience.
