About the Role

Work on-site with one of Australia's leading energy operators

18 months fixed - term role at AGL’s Loy Yang Mine

Major Generation facility located 90 minutes outside of the Melbourne CBD

Reporting to the Mine Electrical Superintendent, the Systems Technical Officer plays a key role providing technical maintenance support for AGL Loy Yang’s mine electrical control, monitoring and protection systems.

Working in collaboration with the Mine Electrical Team, you will be responsible for the planning and scoping of electrical projects related to plant upgrades and modifications, while providing technical support in investigations relating to plant breakdowns and other major activities within the Electrical Team.

Please note: This is an 18 month Fixed Term role.

What you’ll be doing:
Responding to plant breakdowns, including production, health and safety and environment breakdowns as a first response, or as referred by other maintenance and electrical personnel

Diagnosing faults and implementing the calibration, repair or replacement of faulty equipment

Analysing the mine electrical control, monitoring and protection systems for the best performance to achieve plant availability and reliability targets

Providing leadership, support and contractor management activities relating to the commissioning and return to service of mine plant and equipment

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:
An A Class Electrical Licence, Certificate of Technology, Associate Diploma of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent

A proven history in the electrical operation and maintenance of heavy mining plant such as bucket wheel excavators, stackers and conveyors

Demonstrated high level of technical knowledge across a range of mine electrical control, monitoring and protection systems, including a sound knowledge of PLC’s

The ability to fault find and diagnose with limited supervision

A style of work that remains effective in responding to changing priorities in a high pressure environment
