About The Role As a Part Time Leisure & Lifestyle Officer at our Traralgon home you will be responsible for bringing The Bupa Promise to life for our residents: know me and my needs, help steer my decisions, be there when I need you. Your genuine passion for helping others and making a difference to our resident’s quality of life will be evident in everything you do, as will your ability to empathise and put yourself in their shoes. You will be responsible for promoting the emotional and physical rehabilitation of our residents through person-first recreational activities that promote holistic wellbeing. Key accountabilities include:

  • Providing residents with quality care and actively supporting them to maintain their skill levels, independence and mobility and providing respite support to their family/carers
  • Planning and organisation of all recreational activity programs
  • Ensuring individual resident’s needs, values, spiritual and cultural preferences are taken into account when providing recreational care
  • Completing documented assessments which determine and clearly state capabilities, needs and problems
About You With a resilient approach, you will enjoy working within a dynamic and ever-changing environment and have a lively and enthusiastic approach. You will let your positive personality shine and have a can-do attitude, always putting the needs of our residents first and going out of your way to make others smile and their day just a little bit easier and happier. In addition, you will have:
  • Minimum of a Cert III in Leisure and Lifestyle is essential, with Cert IV or degree level qualifications highly regarded
  • Senior First Aid Certificate is essential
  • Previous experience in caring for the elderly within an aged or community care setting
  • Highly developed organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to solve problems independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and Outcomes
